What Is Chiropractic?
Good health depends on the correct and normal function of the spine and nervous system.
Chiropractic care specialises in the diagnosis, treatment and management of conditions arising from dysfunction within a muscle, joint, ligament, tendon or nerve.
Care is designed to improve the function of the nervous system and joints. In turn relieve symptoms of pain and muscle spasm allowing you to return to a happier more fulfilling, productive lifestyle.
Your nervous system is the control centre of the body. It is made up of the brain, spinal cord and nerves. Every function in the body is regulated and controlled by the brain, spinal cord and nerves. The spine protects the spinal cord and its exiting nerves which are the intricate communication pathways through the body. Your nervous system is constantly sending countless signals throughout the body via the spinal cord and nerves to every part of you. When the spine or a joint is dysfunctional there is a disruption in the signals being sent and this can be experienced as poor function, pain, swelling or other such symptoms. Chiropractic treatment helps to improve the ‘correct’ flow of these signals allowing them to be sent freely and efficiently without interruption which then allows the body to heal itself.
Our bodies are a self-regulating, self-healing organism with its own innate intelligence (in born healing system). Chiropractic care works by restoring this innate intelligence when there is disruption. When the body is free of interference it is less stressed so better able to resist dysfunction and ill health.
Our chiropractor is trained in working with patients who are suffering from all manner of complaints and can help you too.
Why or when do people need chiropractic treatment?
Our patients come to see our Redland Bay chiropractic specialists for many reasons. While primarily focusing on treating neuromusculoskeletal disorders, chiropractors are not exclusively limited to problems with the nervous and or musculoskeletal system. Physical pain or dysfunction may occur in the body for a variety of reasons. For some it may be the result of ‘stress’ – emotional, physical or chemical, an occupational hazard, prolonged postures from work/studying or technical devices, a sporting injury, trauma or degeneration. Our chiropractors are trained in working with patients who are suffering from all manner of complaints and can help you too.

Our chiropractic style at Sports ‘n’ Spines
When treating patients at our Redlands chiropractic clinic, we provide a ‘HOLISTIC’ service aiding your body to heal itself and function at its best.
Our Redlands chiropractors use a range of techniques to remove areas of dysfunction allowing your body to achieve optimal health. The style of care we use is a multidisciplinary or ‘MIXER’ style of chiropractic care. We are all individuals and deserve to be treated as so. This means we respond differently to different techniques therefore the aim is to establish what works best for ‘you’. There is no cookie cutter form of care and each treatment is altered to the presenting needs on each visit. This means we use a variety of techniques tailored to your individual’s needs, likes or dislikes, along with that of the condition. We try to treat both the ‘chicken and the egg’. It is not just about the crack as is commonly perceived. This style of ‘MIXER’ care has effective, long-term positive results without the use of pharmaceutical drugs or surgery.
A manipulation or adjustment which is commonly used in chiropractic care is a safe, simple, gentle fast thrust directed through the chiropractors hands to a specific joint that is not functioning correctly. Some adjustments may result in an audible cracking sound that is of no real significance.
Sometimes a multifaceted approach may include the expertise of other health professionals such as a GP, physiotherapist, podiatrist, dietician, naturopath, massage therapy, psychologist, neuro/ortho surgeon or other specialist. Many of which we have a referral system in place. By working together we are better able to meet your needs and achieve optimal health.
